Product Overview
The 15kV Bypass Operation Equipment — Adapter Cable (T-head + quick-connect) is a dedicated connection cable designed specifically for live-line bypass operations on 10kV/15kV medium-voltage distribution systems. One end features a T-type front-access connector that plugs directly into the front-access receptacles of ring main units, cable branch boxes, and other distribution equipment; the other end features a quick-disconnect interface that connects directly to bypass quick-connect devices, forming a temporary bypass power circuit. It is a critical piece of equipment for live-line operations on medium-voltage distribution systems.
Product Features
Electrical and Insulation Performance
Constructed with 15kV-rated high-strength insulated cable. The conductor is high-purity stranded copper wire with excellent conductivity and low contact resistance. Capable of carrying rated currents of 200A/630A with minimal thermal rise during continuous operation, and exhibits strong resistance to corrosion and oxidation.
The insulation layer is made of high-performance EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber with superior insulation properties. It withstands the rated voltage of a 15kV system as well as transient overvoltages, meeting the operational requirement of a maximum working voltage of 17.5kV, with partial discharge not exceeding 10pC (at 1.5U₀).
An integrated semi-conductive shielding layer distributes the electric field uniformly, effectively suppressing partial discharge. The cable is free from electrical erosion and breakdown risk during long-term operation, with stable and reliable insulation performance.
The cable surface is treated with a specialized process that provides high surface resistivity and strong hydrophobicity, effectively preventing surface flashover caused by condensation and contamination, thereby enhancing insulation reliability in harsh environments.
Structural and Safety Features
The two ends feature different interface designs: one end is a T-type front-access connector compatible with the front-access receptacles of distribution equipment; the other end is a quick-disconnect interface that plugs and unplugs directly with bypass quick-connect devices without the need for additional tools, enabling convenient installation and significantly reducing construction time.
The integrated sealed construction incorporates dedicated sealing elements at the interfaces, providing moisture-proof, waterproof, and pollution-proof protection with an IP67 ingress protection rating, suitable for long-term stable operation in humid, dusty, outdoor, and other harsh environments.
Integrated grounding/equipotential bonding structure enables reliable earthing, effectively dissipating induced voltages and fault currents to enhance system safety.
Fully insulated construction with high outer insulation strength allows the housing to be touched directly during operation with no risk of electric shock, ensuring the safety of operations and maintenance personnel.
Environmental and Weather Resistance
Excellent weatherability, suitable for a wide temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. Insulation layer and conductor performance do not degrade at extreme temperatures, with no risk of cracking or embrittlement, making it suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.
Moisture-proof, waterproof, pollution-proof, and salt-spray resistant, capable of long-term stable operation in humid, dusty, salt-spray, and other harsh environments, unaffected by rainfall or condensation.
Anti-aging, UV-resistant, and ozone-corrosion resistant, with a service life exceeding 10 years, maintenance-free operation, and reduced long-term operational and maintenance costs.
Mechanical and Compatibility Features
High mechanical strength with resistance to tensile, bending, and impact forces. Capable of withstanding pulling and bending stresses encountered during field operations with no risk of deformation or damage, suitable for complex on-site working conditions.
Both the T-type front-access connector and the quick-disconnect interface adopt standardized designs that are universally interchangeable with mainstream distribution equipment and bypass quick-connect devices, offering strong compatibility.
Modular design allows flexible configuration based on operational requirements, compatible with distribution equipment and bypass cables of different specifications, providing strong versatility.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation Requirements
Before installation, inspect the product appearance for cracks, damage, and voids, and verify the insulation surface is undamaged. Check that the T-type front-access connector and quick-connect interface are intact, free from rust and deformation, and that the locking mechanism operates smoothly and reliably.
Clean the inner wall of the distribution equipment front-access receptacle and the surface of the T-type front-access connector to remove grease, dust, and foreign matter, ensuring that the interfaces are dry and clean.
Apply a uniform coat of dedicated silicone grease lubricant to the outer surfaces of both the T-type front-access connector and the quick-connect interface to prevent damage to the insulation layer during installation.
Slowly insert the T-type front-access connector into the distribution equipment front-access receptacle, ensuring it is fully seated, then engage the anti-withdrawal locking mechanism. Connect the quick-connect interface to the bypass device interface securely, ensuring it is fully seated, then engage the anti-withdrawal locking mechanism. After installation, verify there is no looseness or misalignment.
Upon completion of installation, perform insulation resistance testing and power frequency withstand voltage testing. The equipment may only be energized after passing these tests.
Maintenance Requirements
Periodically inspect the cable appearance for cracks, damage, discharge marks, and contamination buildup. Verify that the T-type front-access connector is firmly seated in the distribution equipment receptacle without looseness, and that the quick-connect interface connection to the bypass device is reliable and free from rust.
Periodically test insulation resistance to verify performance compliance and to detect potential faults in a timely manner.
Clean the cable surface and interfaces to remove dust and contamination, keeping the insulation surfaces dry and clean, and protecting them from grease and chemical corrosion.
If cracks, damage, discharge, overheating, or other anomalies are found on the cable or interfaces, immediately take the equipment out of service and replace it. Operation of defective equipment is strictly prohibited.
Plug/unplug interface operations must be performed using dedicated insulated operating tools. Manually operating energized interfaces is strictly prohibited. All operations must strictly comply with power distribution safety regulations.
Precautions
This product must be installed, commissioned, and maintained by qualified electrical personnel holding valid certification for medium-voltage live-line distribution work. Operation by non-qualified personnel is strictly prohibited.
This product must be used in conjunction with distribution equipment and bypass operation devices of the corresponding specification. Cross-matching equipment of different voltage classes or different current ratings is strictly prohibited, as this will result in insulation failure and safety incidents.
The cable must not be disassembled or modified without authorization, as doing so voids the warranty and safety assurance. Use of non-dedicated tools to forcibly install or remove the interfaces is strictly prohibited.
During installation, damage to the insulation surface is strictly prohibited. Silicone grease lubricant must be applied uniformly to avoid compromising insulation performance and sealing effectiveness. Interfaces must be fully locked in position to prevent poor contact leading to overheating or discharge.
During storage, the product must be kept in a dry, ventilated, cool environment, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, moisture, and compression. Contact with sharp objects that could damage the insulation layer is strictly prohibited.
When plugging or unplugging energized interfaces, power distribution safety regulations must be strictly observed, and all required safety protective measures must be in place. Unauthorized operations are strictly prohibited.
