15kV Rear Plug Type Quick Plug

Product Overview

The 15kV Rear Plug Type Quick Plug is a rear-entry quick-disconnect connector designed specifically for 10kV/15kV medium-voltage power distribution systems. It is compatible with the rear-entry receptacles of ring main units, cable branch boxes, and similar equipment, and supports rapid mating with bypass operation devices and emergency generator vehicles. This connector enables live-line bypass operations and emergency power supply, making it a critical component for uninterrupted maintenance of medium-voltage distribution systems.

Product Features

Electrical and Insulation Performance

Manufactured from high-performance EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber via integral injection molding, the connector is seamless and void-free, delivering excellent insulation performance. It withstands the rated voltage of a 15kV system as well as transient overvoltages, meeting the operational requirements of a maximum working voltage of 17.5kV. Partial discharge level is ≤10pC (at 1.5U₀).

Built-in high-purity copper conductive contacts provide superior conductivity with low contact resistance. The connector is rated for 250A/630A continuous current, ensuring long-term operation free from heating and oxidation to meet high-current bypass power supply demands.

An integrated electric field optimization structure with a stress control layer ensures uniform electric field distribution at the interface, effectively suppressing partial discharge. Long-term operation presents no risk of electrical erosion or dielectric breakdown, ensuring stable and reliable insulation performance.

Structural and Safety Features

The standardized T-type rear-plug design strictly conforms to GB/T 12706 and IEC 60840 standards, offering full interchangeability with the rear-entry receptacles of mainstream 15kV ring main units and cable branch boxes for strong compatibility.

The integrated modular structure employs a quick-lock connection mechanism that requires no additional tools, enabling rapid mating and disconnection between equipment receptacles and bypass cables, significantly reducing the construction cycle for live-line operations.

A built-in positioning and anti-withdrawal structure automatically locks upon full connector insertion, preventing loosening or disengagement during operation. An integrated grounding connection structure provides reliable earthing, effectively dissipating induced voltages and fault currents to enhance system safety.

The fully insulated, touchproof construction features high outer insulation strength, allowing direct contact with the housing during live operation without risk of electric shock, ensuring the safety of operations and maintenance personnel.

Environmental and Weather Resistance

Excellent weather resistance allows operation across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. Rubber elasticity and insulation performance remain undiminished at extreme temperatures, with no risk of cracking or embrittlement, suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.

Rated IP67 for protection against moisture, water ingress, dust, and salt spray, the connector is capable of stable long-term operation in harsh environments including high humidity, heavy dust, and salt-laden atmospheres, with no degradation from rain or condensation.

Resistant to aging, ultraviolet radiation, and ozone corrosion, the connector has a service life exceeding 30 years, requiring no maintenance and reducing long-term operating costs.

Mechanical and Compatibility Features

High mechanical strength with impact and vibration resistance allows the connector to withstand mechanical stresses encountered during transport, installation, and operation without deformation or damage. Seismic resistance rating: Grade 8.

Compatible with the rear-entry receptacles of 10kV/15kV ring main units, cable branch boxes, pad-mounted transformers, and similar equipment, offering broad universality and suitability for use with mainstream bypass cables, transfer cables, and current-diversion devices.

The modular design supports repeated insertion and withdrawal cycles for convenient maintenance, reducing equipment investment costs for live-line operations.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Requirements

Prior to installation, inspect the product for cracks, damage, and voids; verify the insulation surface is undamaged. Inspect the conductive contacts and locking mechanism to confirm they are free from corrosion and deformation and that the locking mechanism operates smoothly and reliably.

Clean the inner surface of the distribution equipment’s rear-entry receptacle and the T-type rear plug exterior to remove grease, dust, and foreign matter, ensuring the interface is dry and clean. Clean the bypass cable interface surface to remove grease, dust, and foreign matter, ensuring the interface is dry and clean.

Apply a uniform coat of approved silicone grease lubricant to the outer surface of the interface to prevent damage to the insulation layer during installation.

Slowly insert the T-type rear plug into the distribution equipment’s rear-entry receptacle until fully seated, then engage the positioning and anti-withdrawal locking mechanism. Connect the opposite end of the product to the bypass cable interface until fully seated and engage the locking mechanism. After installation, verify there is no looseness or misalignment.

Upon completion of installation, perform insulation resistance testing and power-frequency withstand voltage testing before energizing the equipment.

Maintenance Requirements

Periodically inspect the product for cracks, damage, discharge marks, and surface contamination. Verify that connections to the distribution equipment receptacle and bypass cable interface are secure and free from looseness, and that the grounding terminal is reliably connected and free from corrosion.

Periodically test insulation resistance and contact resistance to confirm performance meets requirements and to detect potential faults at an early stage.

Clean the product surface and interfaces to remove accumulated dust and contamination; keep insulation surfaces dry and clean, and protect them from grease and chemical attack.

If abnormalities such as cracks, damage, discharge, overheating, or excessive contact resistance are detected, immediately take the product out of service and replace it. Operation of defective equipment is strictly prohibited.

Plug-in/withdrawal interface operations must be performed using dedicated insulated operating tools. Manual handling of energized interfaces is strictly prohibited; all operations must comply strictly with power distribution safety regulations.

Precautions

Installation, commissioning, and maintenance must be performed exclusively by qualified electrical personnel holding the relevant credentials for live-line operations on medium-voltage distribution systems. Operation by unqualified personnel is strictly prohibited.

The product must be used in conjunction with distribution equipment and bypass operation devices of matching specifications. Use with equipment of differing voltage classes or current ratings is strictly prohibited, as this will result in insulation failure and safety incidents.

The product must not be disassembled or modified without authorization, as this will void the warranty and safety certification. Forced installation or removal of interfaces using non-approved tools is strictly prohibited.

During installation, damage to the insulation surface must be avoided. Silicone grease lubricant must be applied uniformly to preserve insulation performance and sealing effectiveness. Interfaces must be fully locked into position to prevent poor contact leading to overheating or discharge.

During storage, keep the product in a dry, well-ventilated, cool environment away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, moisture, and compressive loads. Contact with sharp objects that could damage the insulation layer is strictly prohibited.

When performing live plug-in/withdrawal operations, strictly observe power distribution safety regulations and implement all required safety protective measures. Non-compliant operations are strictly prohibited.
