The JY HBLQ-34/78 24kV European-style followed by arrester is a fully shielded, separable surge arrester designed specifically for 20kV power distribution systems. It is made of high-performance metal oxide resistant elements and EPDM rubber through integral injection molding, featuring full insulation, full sealing, and touchability . It is mainly used for cable-side connections in 24kV European-style ring main units, cable branch boxes, and prefabricated substations. It is often used in conjunction with European-style rear-connectors to provide overvoltage protection for the power distribution system, preventing damage to equipment from lightning overvoltage and operational overvoltage.
II. Product Characteristics
1. Electrical and protective performance
It adopts high-performance metal oxide resistors, which have excellent volt-ampere characteristics and fast response speed. It can effectively absorb lightning overvoltage and switching overvoltage energy, limit the overvoltage amplitude, and protect the insulation safety of equipment.
With a built-in semi-conductive shielding layer and uniform electric field distribution, it eliminates the risk of partial discharge caused by electric field concentration and improves long-term operational reliability.
With a fully sealed structure and IP67 protection rating, it can effectively prevent moisture, dust, and oil from entering, making it suitable for harsh environments such as humid and dusty conditions and ensuring stable performance of the surge arrester.
2. Installation and Construction Characteristics
The detachable plug-in design makes installation convenient and requires no special tools. It connects directly to the European-style rear connector via a standard interface, resulting in fast construction speed, significantly reducing installation time and construction costs.
It adopts a standardized interface, is compatible with 24kV European-style power distribution equipment and rear connectors, has strong versatility and good interchangeability, and is convenient for equipment maintenance and capacity expansion.
With a fully insulated and touchable structure, the surface of the surge arrester is at ground potential after installation, with no exposed live parts, requiring no additional insulation protection and ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel.
3. Environmental and Weather Resistance
It has excellent weather resistance and can adapt to a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +90℃. The elasticity and insulation properties of the rubber do not decrease under high and low temperatures, and there is no risk of cracking, embrittlement or deformation. It is suitable for various indoor and outdoor scenarios.
It is resistant to aging, ultraviolet rays, and ozone corrosion, with a service life of over 20 years. It requires no maintenance and reduces subsequent operation and maintenance costs.
It is resistant to chemical corrosion and can adapt to harsh environments such as humidity, dust, salt spray, and mild acid and alkali. It has no risk of corrosion or degradation and is suitable for industrial and mining enterprises, coastal areas and other scenarios.
4. Mechanical and Safety Characteristics
Rubber materials have high mechanical strength, are tear-resistant and tensile-resistant, and can withstand mechanical stress during construction and operation without the risk of breakage or cracking.
It features anti-misoperation and anti-electric shock designs, automatically grounds after installation, and has a touchable surface, ensuring high safety and making it suitable for power distribution scenarios where personnel frequently come into contact with it.
With its compact structure and small size, it is suitable for installation in confined spaces and has no installation space limitations.

VI. Installation and Maintenance
1. Installation Requirements
Before installation, inspect the product appearance. The surge arrester should be free of cracks, damage, and bubbles, and all accessories should be complete and undamaged.
Clean the European-style rear connector interface according to the process requirements, removing oil and dust, and ensuring the surface is dry and clean.
Connect the surge arrester directly to the European-style rear connector, adjust its position to ensure a reliable connection, and install it in place.
After installation, check that the surge arrester connection is reliable, without looseness or offset, and that the grounding connection is good. Once confirmed to be correct, the installation is complete.
2. Maintenance Requirements
Regularly inspect the appearance of the surge arrester. There should be no cracks, damage, discharge marks, or dirt accumulation. The surge arrester should be tightly connected to the rear connector without any looseness or gaps.
Regularly test the surge arrester’s insulation resistance, DC reference voltage, and leakage current to ensure its performance meets requirements and to promptly identify potential hazards.
Clean the surface of the surge arrester to remove accumulated dust and dirt, keep the surface of the surge arrester dry and clean, and avoid corrosion from oil and chemicals.
If a surge arrester exhibits abnormalities such as cracks, damage, discharge, excessive insulation resistance, or excessive leakage current, it must be replaced promptly. Operation with defects is strictly prohibited.
VII. Precautions
The product must be installed, debugged, and maintained by professionals with high-voltage electrical installation qualifications. Operation by non-professionals is strictly prohibited.
The product must be used with 24kV European-style power distribution equipment and connectors of the corresponding specifications. It is strictly forbidden to use the wrong equipment, otherwise it will cause protection failure and lead to safety accidents.
The product must not be disassembled or modified without authorization, otherwise the warranty and safety guarantee will be lost. It is strictly forbidden to forcibly stretch or cut the surge arrester to avoid damaging the rubber material and internal resistor.
During installation, it is essential to ensure that the surge arrester is installed correctly and reliably to avoid affecting its protective performance due to poor contact.
When storing, it should be placed in a dry, ventilated, and cool environment, avoiding direct sunlight, high temperature, humidity, and compression. It is strictly forbidden to contact with sharp objects that may damage the surge arrester.
During operation, the status of the surge arrester needs to be checked regularly to prevent it from being squeezed or collided with by external forces, thus preventing damage or seal failure.
