I. Product Overview

The JY PRNT-15.5 Bay-O-Net Assembly is a replaceable current-limiting protection device designed specifically for 15kV (10kV level) American-style box-type substations, ring main units, and other power distribution equipment. It adopts a modular plug-in structure, integrating the current-limiting fuse tube and the insulating mounting assembly. It has short-circuit protection, overload protection, and insulation isolation functions. It can be directly installed in the fuse holder of American-style box-type substations to realize overcurrent protection for transformers and lines. It is a key component for equipment protection in medium-voltage power distribution systems.

II. Product Characteristics

1. Electrical and protective performance

  • It adopts high-performance current-limiting fuses with strong breaking capacity, which can quickly cut off short-circuit current, effectively limit the peak fault current, and protect transformers and lines from overcurrent damage. The breaking capacity can reach 20/31.5kA.
  • The fuse tube is made of high-strength epoxy glass fiber material, which has excellent insulation performance and can withstand the rated voltage of 15kV system and short-time overvoltage. It has high insulation strength and no risk of breakdown or flashover.
  • It has a built-in fuse indicator that can intuitively display the fault status after the fuse blows, making it easy for maintenance personnel to quickly troubleshoot the fault.
  • It has excellent current limiting characteristics and can cut off the current within half a cycle during a short circuit, effectively limiting overvoltage and preventing the fault from escalating.

2. Structural and Safety Features

  • The plug-in modular design consists of an insulated mounting assembly and a fuse tube, making installation convenient and allowing for quick replacement of the fuse tube without power outages, thus significantly improving maintenance efficiency.
  • The design prevents mis-insertion and incorrect connection. The interface size is standardized and can only be matched with the corresponding fuse holder, eliminating the risk of incorrect installation. It has a built-in locking structure to prevent loosening and falling off after installation.
  • The insulating shell has high strength and can be touched directly during operation without the risk of electric shock, ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel.
  • It is compatible with dedicated insulated operating tools, enabling safe plugging and unplugging operations without direct contact with live parts, thus improving maintenance safety.

3. Environmental and Weather Resistance

  • It has excellent weather resistance and can adapt to a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +90℃. The performance of the fuse and insulation material does not degrade under high and low temperatures, and there is no risk of cracking or embrittlement. It is suitable for various outdoor and indoor scenarios.
  • It is moisture-proof, waterproof, stain-proof, and salt spray-proof, and can operate stably for a long time in harsh environments such as underground, damp, and dusty conditions, and is not afraid of rain or condensation.
  • It is resistant to aging, ultraviolet rays, and ozone corrosion, with a service life of more than 10 years. The fuse is easy to replace, reducing the cost of later maintenance.

4. Mechanical and Adaptation Characteristics

  • It has high mechanical strength, is impact and vibration resistant, and can withstand mechanical stress during transportation, installation and operation without deformation or damage risk. Its seismic resistance level reaches level 8.
  • It is compatible with the standard fuse socket interface of 15kV American-style transformer substation and ring main unit, with strong versatility and can directly replace products of the same specification.
  • The modular design allows for individual replacement of the fuse tube without replacing the entire component, reducing maintenance costs.

V. Usage Conditions

1. Normal operating conditions

  • Altitude: ≤2000m;
  • Ambient temperature: -40℃~+90℃; equipment operating temperature complies with relevant standards.
  • Relative humidity: ≤100% (no condensation);
  • Environmental conditions: No corrosive gases, no flammable or explosive media, no severe vibration or impact;
  • Installation method: It is compatible with standard American fuse holder interfaces and can be installed horizontally or vertically. The installation space must meet the operation requirements.

2. Special usage conditions (customization required)

  • The altitude exceeds 2000m;
  • The ambient temperature exceeds the range of -40℃ to +90℃;
  • Severely polluted, salt spray, and chemically corrosive environments;
  • High vibration and high impact conditions;
  • Non-standard fuse holder interface specifications;
  • Special current ratings and breaking capacity requirements.

VI. Installation and Maintenance

1. Installation Requirements

  • Before installation, inspect the product appearance for cracks, damage, bubbles, and undamaged insulation surfaces; check that the fuse tube is intact and free of rust, and that the fuse indicator is functioning properly.
  • Clean the fuse holder interface surface to remove oil, dust, and foreign objects, ensuring the interface is dry and clean.
  • Using a special insulated operating tool, slowly push the fuse into the fuse holder interface to ensure it is fully in place and lock the positioning structure.
  • After installation, check that the fuse is securely installed, without looseness or tilting, and that the interface is reliably sealed.

2. Maintenance Requirements

  • Regularly inspect the appearance of the fuses; ensure they are free of cracks, discharge marks, and dirt, and that they are securely installed without any looseness.
  • Regularly check the status of the fuse indicator. If the indicator pops up, it means that the fuse has blown and the fuse tube needs to be replaced immediately.
  • Clean the fuse surface to remove dust and dirt, and keep the insulation surface dry and clean to avoid corrosion from oil and chemicals.
  • After a fuse blows, it must be replaced with a fuse tube of the same specification. It is strictly forbidden to use fuses of different specifications or to directly short-circuit them, otherwise the protection will fail and cause a safety accident.
  • Special insulated tools must be used to insert or remove fuses. It is strictly forbidden to operate live fuses with bare hands. Power distribution safety regulations must be strictly followed during operation.

VII. Precautions

  1. The product must be installed, debugged, and maintained by professional electrical personnel with medium-voltage power distribution construction qualifications. Operation by non-professional personnel is strictly prohibited.
  2. The product must be used with the corresponding fuse holder. It is strictly forbidden to use fuses of different voltage or current ratings, otherwise it will lead to protection failure and safety accidents.
  3. Fuse must not be disassembled or modified without authorization, otherwise the warranty and safety guarantee will be lost. It is strictly forbidden to use non-special tools to forcibly install or remove it.
  4. After a fuse blows, it must be replaced with a fuse tube of the same specification. It is strictly forbidden to use a substitute fuse or short-circuit it, otherwise it will lead to serious consequences such as equipment damage and fire.
  5. When storing, it should be placed in a dry, ventilated, and cool environment, avoiding direct sunlight, high temperature, humidity, and compression. It is strictly forbidden to contact with sharp objects that may damage the insulation layer.
  6. When plugging or unplugging fuses while they are energized, it is essential to strictly adhere to power distribution safety regulations, take appropriate safety precautions, and strictly prohibit any unauthorized operations.
