Share to:

Product Overview

The Adapter Cable (Quick Plug + Drainage Clamp) is a dedicated connecting cable designed specifically for live-line bypass operations in 10kV/15kV medium-voltage distribution systems. One end features a quick-connect/disconnect interface for direct mating with bypass quick-plug equipment; the other end is equipped with a high-voltage drainage clamp that can be directly applied to bare high-voltage conductors or cables. This design enables rapid connection between high-voltage lines and bypass equipment, establishing a temporary bypass power supply circuit, making it a critical piece of equipment for live-line operations in medium-voltage distribution systems.

Product Features

Electrical and Insulation Performance

Constructed with 15kV-rated high-strength insulated cable. The conductor is high-purity stranded copper wire with excellent electrical conductivity, low contact resistance, and a rated current capacity of 200A/630A. Long-term operation generates minimal heat, with strong corrosion and oxidation resistance.

The insulation layer uses high-performance EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber with superior insulation properties. It withstands the rated voltage of a 15kV system as well as short-duration overvoltages, meeting the operational requirements of a maximum working voltage of 17.5kV, with a partial discharge level of ≤10pC (at 1.5U₀).

A built-in semi-conductive shielding layer uniformly distributes the electric field, effectively suppressing partial discharge. The cable presents no risk of electrical erosion or dielectric breakdown during long-term operation, ensuring stable and reliable insulation performance.

The drainage clamp is made from high-strength conductive material with a large contact surface area, low contact resistance, and the ability to carry high-current loads. The clamping is firm and resistant to loosening and overheating.

Structural and Safety Features

The two ends adopt different interface designs. One end features a quick-connect/disconnect interface that is universally compatible with mainstream bypass quick-plug equipment, enabling rapid mating without additional tools. The other end is a high-voltage drainage clamp that can be directly applied to bare high-voltage conductors or cables, allowing easy installation and significantly reducing construction time.

An integrated sealed structure design uses dedicated sealing components at the interfaces to provide moisture-proof, waterproof, and contamination-proof protection at IP67 ingress protection rating, enabling long-term stable operation in humid, dusty, outdoor, and other harsh environments.

An integrated grounding/equipotential bonding structure enables reliable grounding, effectively dissipating induced voltages and fault currents to enhance system safety.

The fully insulated structure provides high outer insulation strength, allowing the housing to be touched directly during operation without risk of electric shock, ensuring the safety of operations and maintenance personnel.

Environmental and Weather Resistance

Excellent weather resistance adaptable to a wide temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. Cable insulation and conductor performance do not degrade at high or low temperatures, with no risk of cracking or embrittlement, suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.

Moisture-proof, waterproof, contamination-proof, and salt-spray resistant, capable of long-term stable operation in humid, dusty, salt-spray, and other harsh environments, unaffected by rainwater or condensation.

Anti-aging, UV-resistant, and ozone-corrosion resistant, with a service life exceeding 10 years, maintenance-free operation, and reduced long-term operational and maintenance costs.

Mechanical and Compatibility Features

High mechanical strength with resistance to tension, bending, and impact. The cable withstands pulling and bending stresses encountered during operations without risk of deformation or damage, suitable for complex field operating environments.

The drainage clamp uses an elastic clamping design, compatible with bare high-voltage conductors or cables of various specifications. Clamping is firm with reliable contact, resistant to slipping and loosening.

The quick-connect/disconnect interface design is universally compatible with mainstream bypass quick-plug equipment, offering strong compatibility with bypass cables, bypass switches, and other devices of various specifications.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Requirements

Before installation, inspect the product appearance for cracks, damage, and voids; verify the insulation surface is undamaged. Inspect the drainage clamp and quick-plug interface for freedom from corrosion and deformation; confirm elastic clamping of the drainage clamp is reliable.

Clean the surface of bare high-voltage conductors/cables, removing grease, dust, and foreign matter to ensure the clamping surface is dry and clean. Clean the quick-plug interface and the corresponding bypass equipment interface surface, removing grease, dust, and foreign matter to ensure the interfaces are dry and clean.

Apply a uniform coat of dedicated silicone grease lubricant to the outer wall of the quick-plug interface to prevent damage to the insulation layer during installation.

Firmly clamp the drainage clamp onto the bare high-voltage conductor/cable, ensuring sufficient contact area and reliable contact. Securely connect the quick-plug interface to the bypass equipment interface, ensuring full engagement. Lock the anti-withdrawal positioning mechanism. After installation, verify there is no looseness or misalignment.

After installation, conduct insulation resistance testing and power-frequency withstand voltage testing before commissioning.

Maintenance Requirements

Periodically inspect the cable exterior for cracks, damage, discharge marks, and contamination buildup; verify the drainage clamp is firmly clamped without loosening and the quick-plug interface connection is reliable and free from corrosion.

Periodically test insulation resistance to confirm performance meets requirements and to detect potential faults in a timely manner.

Clean the cable surface and interfaces, removing accumulated dust and contamination. Keep the insulation surface dry and clean, preventing degradation from grease and chemical substances.

If cracks, damage, discharge, overheating, or other abnormalities appear on the cable or interfaces, immediately take the unit out of service and replace it. Operation with known defects is strictly prohibited.

Insertion/extraction of the quick-plug interface and clamping/unclamping of the drainage clamp must be performed using dedicated insulated operating tools. Bare-hand operation of live equipment is strictly prohibited. All operations must strictly comply with distribution safety regulations.

Safety Precautions

The product must be installed, commissioned, and maintained by qualified electrical personnel with certification for medium-voltage distribution live-line operations. Operation by non-qualified personnel is strictly prohibited.

The product must be used in conjunction with bypass operation equipment and high-voltage lines of the corresponding specifications. Mismatching equipment of different voltage or current ratings is strictly prohibited, as this will result in insulation failure and safety incidents.
