Product Overview

The Adapter Cable (Double Quick Plug) is a dedicated connection cable designed specifically for live-line bypass operations in 10kV/15kV medium-voltage distribution systems. Both ends feature quick-disconnect interfaces, enabling rapid interconnection between different bypass devices to establish temporary bypass power supply circuits. It supports live-line maintenance and retrofit operations on distribution equipment, and serves as a critical component for live-line work in medium-voltage distribution systems.

Product Features

Electrical and Insulation Performance

Constructed with 15kV-class high-strength insulated cable. The conductor consists of high-purity stranded copper wire, providing excellent conductivity, low contact resistance, and the ability to carry a rated current of 200A/630A. Long-term operation generates minimal heat, with strong resistance to corrosion and oxidation.

The insulation layer is made of high-performance EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber, offering outstanding insulation properties. It withstands the rated system voltage and short-duration overvoltages of a 15kV system, meeting the operational requirements of a maximum working voltage of 17.5kV, with partial discharge level ≤10pC (at 1.5U₀).

An embedded semi-conductive shielding layer uniformly distributes the electric field, effectively suppressing partial discharge. Long-term operation presents no risk of electrical erosion or breakdown, ensuring stable and reliable insulation performance.

The cable surface is treated with a specialized process to achieve high surface resistivity and strong hydrophobicity, effectively preventing surface flashover caused by condensation or contamination, thereby enhancing insulation reliability in harsh environments.

Structural and Safety Features

Both ends feature standardized quick-disconnect interface designs that strictly comply with industry standards, allowing universal interchangeability with mainstream bypass quick-connect equipment. No additional tools are required, enabling rapid interconnection and significantly reducing construction cycle time.

The integrated sealed structure design incorporates dedicated sealing elements at the interfaces, providing moisture-proof, waterproof, and contamination-resistant protection to IP67 ingress protection rating. This enables stable long-term operation in harsh environments including wet, dusty, and outdoor conditions.

A built-in grounding/equipotential bonding structure ensures reliable earthing, effectively dissipating induced voltages and fault currents, thereby enhancing system safety.

The fully insulated structure features high outer insulation strength. The housing may be directly touched during operation without risk of electric shock, ensuring the safety of operation and maintenance personnel.

Environmental and Weather Resistance

Excellent weather resistance, capable of operating across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +90°C. Insulation layer and conductor performance show no degradation at extreme temperatures, with no risk of cracking or embrittlement, suitable for both outdoor and indoor applications.

Resistant to moisture, water ingress, contamination, and salt spray, enabling stable long-term operation in harsh environments including wet, dusty, and salt-laden conditions, with no susceptibility to rainwater or condensation.

Resistant to aging, UV radiation, and ozone corrosion. Service life exceeds 10 years with maintenance-free operation, reducing long-term operation and maintenance costs.

Mechanical and Compatibility Features

High mechanical strength with resistance to tension, bending, and impact. Capable of withstanding tensile and bending stresses encountered during field operations, with no risk of deformation or damage, suitable for complex on-site working environments.

Quick-disconnect interfaces at both ends allow universal interchangeability with bypass quick-connect equipment of the same specification, offering strong compatibility and adaptability to bypass cables, bypass switches, and other devices of varying specifications.

Modular design enables flexible configuration to meet operational requirements, adaptable to bypass circuits of different lengths and connection configurations, with strong universality.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation Requirements

Prior to installation, inspect the product externally for cracks, damage, or voids, and verify the insulation surface is undamaged; check that the quick-connect interfaces at both ends are free from corrosion and deformation, and that the locking mechanisms operate smoothly and reliably.

Clean the quick-connect interfaces at both ends and the mating surfaces of the corresponding bypass device interfaces, removing oil, dust, and foreign matter; ensure the interfaces are dry and clean.

Apply a uniform coat of dedicated silicone grease lubricant to the outer surface of the quick-connect interfaces to prevent damage to the insulation layer during installation.

Connect the quick-connect interfaces at both ends to the corresponding bypass device interfaces securely, ensuring full seating; engage the anti-withdrawal locking mechanism and verify there is no looseness or misalignment after installation.

Upon completion of installation, perform insulation resistance testing and power-frequency withstand voltage testing; the equipment shall only be commissioned after passing these tests.

Maintenance Requirements

Periodically inspect the cable externally for cracks, damage, discharge marks, and contamination accumulation; verify that the quick-connect interfaces at both ends are securely connected with no looseness, corrosion, or deformation.

Periodically test insulation resistance to confirm performance meets requirements and to identify potential faults in a timely manner.

Clean the cable surface and interfaces, removing accumulated dust and contamination; maintain dry and clean insulation surfaces; avoid exposure to oil and chemical substances.

If cracks, damage, discharge, or overheating anomalies are detected on the cable or interfaces, immediately take the unit out of service and replace it; operation of defective equipment is strictly prohibited.

Insertion and withdrawal of quick-connect interfaces must be performed using dedicated insulated operating tools; direct manual operation of energized interfaces is strictly prohibited; all operations must strictly comply with distribution safety regulations.

Precautions

The product shall be installed, commissioned, and maintained exclusively by qualified electrical personnel certified for live-line work on medium-voltage distribution systems; operation by unqualified personnel is strictly prohibited.

The product must be used in conjunction with bypass operation equipment of the corresponding specification; mismatching equipment of different voltage classes or current ratings is strictly prohibited, as this will result in insulation failure and safety incidents.

The cable shall not be disassembled or modified without authorization, as this will void the warranty and safety assurance; the use of non-specialized tools to forcibly install or remove interfaces is strictly prohibited.

During installation, damage to the insulation surface is strictly prohibited; silicone grease lubricant must be applied uniformly to avoid compromising insulation performance and sealing effectiveness; interfaces must be fully locked into position to prevent overheating and discharge caused by poor contact.

During storage, the product must be kept in a dry, well-ventilated, cool environment, away from direct sunlight, high temperatures, moisture, and compression; contact with sharp objects that may damage the insulation layer is strictly prohibited.
